Education is a commodity that not everybody has access to yet. With the following campaign, one of Blu Spring’s smallest, we have the aim to promote access to education for the families which have the financial impossibility to send their children to school.

To “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” is part of the 4th goal of the Sustainable Development Goals: Quality Education.

Moreover, there is an increased inequality in regard to the access to education when it regards to children with disabilities. The latter not only regards schools rejecting or not accepting children because of their disabilities, but it also accounts for issues such as the infrastructure not being appropriate for children with a wheelchair or the schools being at a distance too great to access (less of a problem in urban areas).

Available data from the UN reveals that, on average, one in three children with disabilities of primary school age is out of school, compared with one in seven children without disabilities. Primary school completion is also lower for children with disabilities.

We have been actively working together with local organisations and certain schools to create wheelchair access, and ensure a higher school attendance for children with disabilities.

So far we sponsored the yearly tuition, worth about Fr. 45 (equal to € 42 and $ 46), for a total of 25 children.

Additionally, we have set up a sponsorship program for one of the young ladies, who throughout two years, helped with physiotherapy for the special children at Kasisi Children’s Home. We are covering her yearly study tuition for her to become a Physical Therapist in Lusaka.
