Understanding the Challenge

In Zambia, children with disabilities are among the most vulnerable members of society. Limited access to healthcare, widespread poverty, and a lack of inclusive infrastructure mean that many children with physical disabilities grow up without the support they need to thrive. For families living in rural or under-resourced communities, assistive devices such as wheelchairs are often unavailable, unaffordable, or unsuitable for local terrain.

A Global Partnership with Local Impact

Our wheelchairs are produced by Wheelchairs for Kids Australia, a dedicated organisation whose volunteers build high-quality, adjustable chairs specifically designed for children.Their work is essential to ours.
Together, we turn compassion into mobility.

Each shipping container carries hundreds of wheelchairs from Perth, Australia to Lusaka,Zambia.

  • 340 Wheelchairs per container
  • 12,000 km for each container to reach Zambia

The Power of a Properly Fitted Wheelchair

A wheelchair is not simply given; children are assessed by trained individuals, the wheelchair is carefully fitted, and adjusted to each child’s body and environment. Proper posture support reduces the risk of complications, improves comfort, and allows children like Angel to sit in healthy postures and safely engage with the world around them.

Mobility becomes the foundation for everything that follows: health, confidence, and participation.

Each outreach includes:

  • Gaining access to children in remote areas around Zambia
  • Child assessments by trained professionals

These programs ensure no child is left unseen.

Follow-up Visits
Support That Continues

Children grow, and their needs change. Follow-up visits ensure wheelchairs remain safe, comfortable, and effective over time.These visits are essential; but reaching families in remote areas comes with logistical challenges, including distance and changing contact details.
